We recently had our windshield replaced. Shortly the vehicle was exposed to heavy rain and leaked on the drivers side above the steering wheel. I'm concerned that water may have gotten into the electrical devices on the steering wheel We haven't noticed any problems yet, but ------? Any advice?

Hi James,

The steering column/electronics can handle small amount of water or splash of wate so you dont have to worry about that. I assume you pulled over right away when you notice that rain pouring to the steering wheel, right? You can use a hair blower to dried the water inside the steering buttons but do not place the blower near to the buttons just place it enough to dry out the surface and underneath it and you shoud good to go.

For the windshield, it would be best to have the windshield resealed. Looks like the amount of rubber seals that was used there is not enough to cover the entire column, reason why water can still penetrate inside.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Dried things out using hair drier as suggested. A tech from Safelite is coming tomorow to try to solve the problem. Thanks for the info.

Dear James, It was a pleasure helping you with your Honda issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.
Issue identified : windshield replaced and water leaked going to the steering wheel
Solution Implemented : chat with cx and told him not to worry if theres small amount of water got in the steering wheel. told cx to dried out the water using hair drier (details below). Told cx also that the windshield needs to be resealed. the installer might have installed small amount of reubber seals causing the water to penetrate in the inside. cx has no further questions. answer accepted.
