I have a Sony model KDL40S4100 . It has no pic or sound but it has back light that comes thru the chassis holes when it is turned on.. I have bought 2 main board neither of them work and I also lose the backlight. So I have reinstalled the original panel and still have the backlights and think maybe the software needs updating.? .
