Hi, my name is Abe. I am happy to assist you. With U-verse, you can connect a U-verse receiver to a PC has a tuner card to watch TV; however, you will not be able to use your PC as a DVR. With U-verse, you will have one DVR, which is a total home DVR. Thus, you can watch and schedule recorded programming from any TV that is connected to U-verse.

Here are samples of tuner cards that enables your computer to show Tv programs:

By the way HDMI cable would transfer data however the computer needs the TV tuner for it to work with the Tv programs. Hope this helps
