When I try to open my nook, I get an "unfortunately, NOOK has stopped" message. My NOOK is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6, and is approximately 18 months old. I have tried rebooting the device, completely turning it off and letting it "rest" for an hour, holding the home key and the start key simultaneously...NOTHING IS WORKING. I can't go to the NOOK settings because when I do, I get the same message.

Hi Judith,

Could you verify if the nook and the samsung galaxy tab A6 are two devices. Nook device  different from Samsunt galaxy tab.

Please send me a reply when you are ready by entering your message in the box at the top then hit the send response button to send.

Hi, Elixir. I know you're not affiliated with B & N, but the work around that was posted 3 years ago by them isn't working, so...

Same device. I needed to buy a new device about 18 months ago since the NOOK I had then died. Since I have thousands of dollars of NOOK books, I bought the identical machine--but it's now labeled a Samsun Galaxy A6

Alright. The device that you are using is a samsung device not nook. Here's how nook look like.

Customer

Yes. However, NOOK was bought by Samsung (about 3 years ago, now) and all modern "Nooks" are actually Samsug devices.

Agfter I log in to my Samsung Galaxy A6, the first message (where my library should show up) is "Your NOOK library content will appear here. Tap here to explore NOOK content..." When I tap "here, I get Nufortunately, NOOK has stopped."

You have to restore the unit to factory state since the nook software is already corrupted. See prcedure below.

  1. Confirm the device is powered off.
  2. Hold the Power and Home key simultaneously.
  3. Release the Power and Home key once the NOOK logo appears. A Factory Reset prompt will appear.
  4. To continue, press the Home key.

Here's the other procedure.

  1. In order to switch off the tablet hold down the Power key for a short while.
  2. After that, press and hold together Volume Up + Home + Power button for a few seconds.
  3. You may release held keys when the Samsung Logo appears on the screen.
  4. Select "wipe data / factory reset" by using Volume buttons to navigate and Power button to confirm.
