Customer

I have a Sharp Aquos 70" TV, LC-70LE650U, M# A 402825200... The picture started going out with a horizontal split right in the middle of the TV, with the top darker and the bottom lighter... So, I replaced ALL the circuit boards in the TV... After testing it (plugging it in, seeing a beautifully clear picture, turning it off and moving it to a another wall), the TV was turned off... Then, when turned back on, after about 1 1/2 hours, the color started to fade on the left side of the TV until it was almost black... I tried to do the factory reset several times but the color kept fading, again, until almost black with the right side very beautiful... I have narrowed it down to either or both the LED Driver or the Back Inverter or both, but I don't know how to check for that... Can you help...?

I see. Are you using a surge protector? Can you try these. Unplug the power cord to the set, wait 10 second then hold CH UP and VOL UP together and plug in the tv and continue to hold the buttons until it powers. Advise me if you will still see faded color on the tv side.

Customer

OK, I'm back up and running dfownstairs... Let me do what you asked...

The light sensor came on and the color was very poor on the left side of the TV...

Can you try this another steps.

  1. Unplug the television.

  2. Press and hold the "Channel Down" and "Input" buttons on the panel.

  3. Plug the television back in while holding down these buttons. You may need the assistance of another person to accomplish this step.

  4. Keep holding the buttons until the television powers back on.

Advise me if there is any changes.

Okay now use the remote to navigate the "Service Mode" menu and select "Factory Reset" from the menu. Click "Enter" and the television will begin initializing and shut down. It will then power back on, set to factory defaults. Advise me what will happen.

Posted
Customer

ok, the power did not come back on when i did that...

Just wait for 20 seconds. If still not powering on power on the tv.

Posted
Customer

Power it off then unplug the tv and then while the tv is unplug press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and the plug it back in. Then check the picture if its still distorted.

Posted
Customer

I may have made a mistake, what do you mean by the "service mode"... Which setting on the menu button is that...?

Posted
Ramy De Jesus
Sharp Tech

It depends on your tv menu options. As long as you see the factory reset mode it is the same.

Posted
Customer

Yes, the picture is still distorted, No Change...

There is a possibility that there is some loose points on the tv panels. Can you double check if all the connections on the service circuit board you replace are all properly connnected. There is a big possibility that there might be a loose solder points when you replace or when you move the tv.

Posted
Customer

That is entirely possible, however, I checked the curcuit boards very carefully before I even reinstalled them... Could it be a fracture in one of the componants...?

Posted
Ramy De Jesus
Sharp Tech

Probably Larre. So the best way is to check the components again. :)

Posted
Customer

OK, big question...! This same identical problem first appeared when the TV started going bad... Then, after I replaced the circuit boards, the same "identical" problem has continued...!

Posted
Customer

Could it be the same problem on both the old and the new circuit boards...?

Posted
Ramy De Jesus
Sharp Tech

Possible. Because when you replace the tv circuit board everything is working properly. Are you using a surge protector?

Posted
Customer

Yes, most definately...!

Posted
Ramy De Jesus
Sharp Tech

I see. Most probably the Circuit board you replace might have issues thats why this is happening again. But I suggest to check the Main board and also the Tcon also. But 90 percent the issue might be the circuit board again.

Customer

Can I take a picture of the TV screen and send it to you...? It might help if I am able to send you a couple of pictures of what the TV screen look like... Where I I send you the pictures...?

Do you have a cable box? If you have are you still having the same issue?

Posted
Customer

No, we do not...

Posted
Customer

There appears to be something wrong with the lighting in the LED portion... Could it be a problem with the LED system or do you still think it is in the circuit board proper...? I am asking this question because this is the most common problem reported by people with these Sharp Aquos 70" TVs...

Posted
Ramy De Jesus
Sharp Tech

Do not replace the circuit boad. Try to check the backlight of the LCD first. There is a possibility the backlight might not functioning properly. As check the picture it is a LCD issue not the Circuit board.

Posted
Customer

Our is not an LCD screen, it is an LED... It does not have several glass screens, only one and that is the TV screen itself...

Posted
Ramy De Jesus

Try to check the LED panel first Larre. Check if there is any broken Possible LED backlight failure.

Customer

If it was your TV, what would do besides trashing it...?

On my own opinion I will buy a new one. The cost of the repair and the parts is just like buying a new one. What I recommend you is try ti switch brand and try Sony or Samsung. And you will get a year warranty :)
