I don't find a # anywhere but it is the one that has a magnetic cover on it and requires numbers for the password.

Can you remove the back cover and you should see the model from there at the back.

I don't see how the back is removed.  And what happens if I would damage it since you are not a Kindle rep?

No, the screen comes up with a icon that says enter passcode and numbers 1-0 and OK

OK. that is the screen lock passcode and theres nothing you can do to reset that passcode. But you can restore the kindle to the factory default state and set it up again after the restore so that you can use it. 

Inorder to restore the kindle you have to enter 111222777 then hit OK. The kindle will restart and restore on its own. When it booted up you will end up to the screen where you can setup it up again like when you bought it the first time.

Issue identified : cx forgot the screen lock passcode on her kindle
