Hi, It was a pleasure helping you with your Kindle issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.
Issue identified :

Only 1/3 of the screen is showing

Solution Implemented :

Call customer and assisted in isolating the issue

Tried a complete reboot to view the Kindle splash screen.

problem still occur in the splash screen which indicates Hardware/ LCD problem

Assisteed customer in scheduling a replacement thru Amazon.com
