My brother-in-law had a iPad and he passed away a couple of years ago. In going through his stuff I found the iPad. His son gave me a sheet of paper with his Apple ID (I think), but the password was EureKA31SpooK I think the hand writing is no to good. His Apple ID was b**1@comcast.net. I just want to reset the iPad, but it won't let me if I don't put in the Apple ID and PW.

Dear Gary, It was a pleasure helping you with your iPad issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.
Issue identified :

Activation lock

Solution Implemented :

Call customer and explained few ways to Activate.

Advised customer that they will need to have the email to be functioning to reset the password.

They can ask the owners Wifi to contact Apple for Activation.

They can bring the device to an Apple store with receipt for Activation.

Other than that the Apple ID is protecting the icloud Data of the original owner and they will have to contact Apple to have the Activation done but they will have to pass crtain requirements.
