My 2015 Terrain has died on me twice. Both times I had been driving slowly or stopped completely with the engine on. What could be causing this? Other than that, the car has run fine. And what is the approximate cost to repair? Thanks

Is the check engine light on when it's running?
It sounds to me like the first place to start is to get the code. It is likely a cam or crank position sensor causing the vehicle to stall like this. Estimated cost for repairing this is about $250. That being said, if you can get the vehicle to a parts store and have the codes read, then post them with me I can provide much more details.
The other thing I would think of could be the mass air flow sensor. This would be around the same cost to repair, but without a code there's just no way to be 100% sure of the issue.
The only way to be sure if your check engine light is on is to go to your local auto parts store and have them check the code with thier machine which is free, then they will tell you what part is bad and give you a price on a new part.
You could also take your vehicle to a repair shop and usually they will check the codes for you for free and give you a price on how much it would be to fix uncluding the labor charge and the parts.
The engine light has not come on. What kind of codes are they?
I obviously don't know about the codes. Could a place like AutoZone or Rileys get it? I have a place that i use for all maintenance. Do you think they would be able to get the codes?
Autozone could get the codes for you yes
They have a machine that checks for these codes as well and they do this for free.
How will I get back to you with any questions or answers about the codes?

Thanks for your help. I'll get back to you. Do I have to pay every time I talk to you?

Only a one time fee which you already paid.
Would you like to accept my answer as far as getting the code readouts from Autozone?
Please keep me updated if you find any codes please.
Im not sure if there is an AutoZone close by. I do know there is a Rileys close. Does it matter which one I use?
Rileys will do this for you for free as well.
They will test your vehicle to see if any codes are displaying errors.
I am happy to tell you that you were correct in your diagnosis. Riley's was not able to get a code because the engine light had never come on.
Not sure which one, but it's the cam or crank sensor. The place I use for my car had a more sophisticated scanner. The tech was able to find the codes. I had a new battery installed some months back at the same place and he thought that might have been the problem. A step was missed in resetting things I believe.
I will definately tell friends about ExpertHelp. Especially since you were spot on with the answer to the problem. Thanks for your help. The price is well worth it.
Thank you,
Cindy Beatty
