I cannot access my Facebook account as I have forgotten the password. It is sending a code to an old email address which I can't even remember the full name of let alone the password. Like an idiot, I thought creating a new Facebook account with the same username and email address would solve this issue (stupid I know) and now I have that account also. I am worried that if I delete this new account then the other (my proper account with all my friends, pictures and posts might also be deleted along with it? My wife can't even see my account now and so can't post me. Two big problems, one big dilemma. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Paul,

When a Facebook account with a certain email already exist, you wont be able to use that email in creating another account. May I know why you want to delete the new Facebook account you created? Where you able to access your old account already?

Customer

Hi Abe and thanks for getting back. The original account is the one I want to keep. I only created a second as I stupidly thought it might access my original - stupid I know. I want to delete the second account as it was s set up using the same username, in both cases Paul Willis and in both cases the same email address, w**h@hotmail.com. The original has all my friends, photos and messages. This all came about due to my forgetting the password to my original account and in order to reset the password, it sent a code to an old Gmail address that I no longer use and certainly couldn't remember that password. The most important thing for me is to delete this second account whilst ensuring it does not delete the original. Kind regards  Paul

Hi again Abe. Just reread your original response.  Would I be right in assuming that deleting this second account won't delete the first?  Like I said I'm certain the original was set up using the email w**h@hotmail.com.  So how would I go about finding out the email for the original if I can't access the account? Kind regards

Hi Paul,

The best option we couild try here just to be sure and safe is to find your old facebook account first then try to recover if needed. Once we have that account in access we could update the email address for the old account so there wont be any problems or conflicts deleting the new account you created. Recovery may be a challenging part for us to do so wer need to do this remotely where I can connect to your computer and figure out in how to fix the problem. If you agree, is it okay to do this remotely? We can schedule this at your own vacant time. Just let me know when so I can be online. Thanks for replying and will be waiting for your response thanks.

Hi Abe and thanks for getting back.  Yes I think that's probably a good idea - I believe I will be charged another $20?  If so that's okay.

As you can see, we're on opposite side of the atlantic so timings might prove awkward.   Might I suggest 2100 UK time?  How do we go about doing it, would I simply log into this website and I'm assuming you would require the IP address of the computer I use?

Hi Abe.  I have just checked Facebook and it isn't even showing my original account picture as an option, just the new one which doesn't have a picture.  FYI, the original account which I want to keep has a picture of me and my son, the new one doesn't have a picture.

Just checked again and the original Facebook account came up with an email of p**s@reading.ac.uk At least this shows I was wrong and it isn't w**h@hotmail.com, unlike the new one which I don't want.  Good news.  I've got a feeling that a few weeks ago Facebook asked me if I wanted to use my mobile or Google  for verification???? I think I may have clicked Google - mistake, I should have clicked the mobile option.  Could this be the issue?  However, it still directs me to a google account that I haven't used in ages for the code - as I've stated I don't have access to this Gmail account anymore - don't even know what the name of the Gmail account is p***@***** or something, let alone the password, it's been so long as it was an old business Gmail account.  Hope this new info is helpful.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the information. Are you using the same computer that you have logged into your old gmail account before? May I also know what browser are you using to access facebook and email please?

Hi Abe and again thanks for the reply. I'm not using the same computer that I logged into the Gmail accounts, I don't have that anymore. The browser is Chrome. Regards.

Is it okay if we could do a remote access on your computer? With remote support I can check using your computer and determine whats the problem while you watch. We will try to figure out another way to get your old Facebook account then see if we could find this Gmail account. Please let me know so I can give you instructions on how do we connect our computers.

Hi Abe, apologies for not connecting but I thought it would be pointless unless i could actually see the profile.  Strangely enough, the only way I can see the profile is if I enter a different email address which is my work one.  It then sends a code to either a gmail account or in the latest instance, a hotmail account. - please see below.  Anyway you can now see the profile.  What I would like is to be able to have the code sent to a different email address or, better still my mobile number.  Do we still nee to remote or is this something you think you can work with? Kind regards

Hi Paul,

I can see that its a hotmail account. The code was sent there. Do you have access to your windows email which is the hotmail account? If not there are ways to recover a windows email. I can give you the instructions in case you need it. I'll be staying online today and wait for you at 20:00 your time just in case you need further assistance or remote help.

Note: If you are Windows computer there is a chance it might be using the Hotmail email. Its better to check just in case.

Thanks for the reply Abe. This one is a hotmail account, others it has sent codes to are Gmail accounts. Either way I have no access to them.  I did try finding Gmail accounts but the didn't appear.

Hi Paul,

We need to gain access to your hotmail account since the code was sent there according to the image you sent below. If you cant access hotmail we might need to try to recover your hotmail account and see if its still working. Is your phone number still the same when you had your hotmail account? Or do you have a skype account? It might be linked to your hotmail.

I would be able to help you better with remote support. This way we could check on your browser for accounts and passwords that might give us a chance to recover. If you would like to start remote support right away. Please click HERE download and save the TeamViewerQS.exe file. Once downloaded open it and wait for it to finish installing. Once its up and running it will have your Teamviewer ID and Password please provide me with your Teamviewer ID and Password here. Thanks.

Hi Abe, unfotunately I only have a work computer so I'm not allowed to download anything onto it.  The facebppk account is registered to a different hotmail account - w**h@hotmail.com. Would I be right in thinking there's a way to change the Facebook password from hotmail?

w**h@hotmail.com is a different hotmail account and not the one where the code was sent. I guess you dont know the email address to this account correct?

It looks like that the number is not associated with your original facebook account. I tried recovery methods and the only option we get is this:

Send code via email
p***********7@hotmail.com

By the way are you still able to login to your p**s@reading.ac.uk  email account? I sent a request code there since we are trying to determine what is this email p***********7@hotmail.com. I need that code please.

The results said "There were no matching Microsoft accounts found with the information you provided." Is p***********7@hotmail.com an existing email or have you used it before? Strange Facebook sends the code to that email address. Did you get a code on your phone? If you did, may I have it please?

I also sent a code to this email w**h@hotmail.com I also need that please. You can give me the codes sent tou your phone and to the w**h@hotmail.com email. Thanks.

Its certainly not an email that I recognize nor are the others, I think one was P***@Gmail.com.  The code sent to p**s@reading.ac.uk was 3034.  The code sent to w**h@hotmail.com was 1010.  My wife has just checked her Facebook account and can't find any of her correspondnce with me.  The new Facebook acount, created on Saturday has been deleted and will be completely deleted on 3rd June.

I still cant find this p***********7@hotmail.com email address. We need to try another way to determine your password. Are you using the same computer to login to your original Facenook account?

What is the browser you are using to get into Facebook before? Some browsers like chrome auto saves the passworrd for the logins. Can you login using the same browser on your computer and enter p**s@reading.ac.uk please let me know if auto fills the password field with a hidden password.

Chrome.  It doesn't autofill.  It asks for a password and below that gives an option for 'forgotten account'.  If I click on the password box it comes up with w**h@hotmail.com with a starred password.  However if I were to click on that it would take me to the new account, although it doesn't because it says that password is old.  This is weird!!

Do you know where to access the passwords in chrome?

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More then Settings.
  3. Below Autofill you should see Passwords
  4. Click on Passwords you should see a list of logins there with the passwords
  5. Try to find Facebook.com with the email p**s@reading.ac.uk among the list. Let me know if its there.

Try also to look for a login.live.com or a microsoft login and see if a p***********7@hotmail.com is listed there.

No just w**h@hotmail.com. This isn't a surprise as I've never logged into it with p**s@reading.ac.uk.  I wonder if p**s@reading.ac.uk is coming up with my original profile because that is my work email and the new account also has w**h@hotmail.com.  The original was definitely created with w**h@hotmial.com.  If wonder if the original will revert back to w**h@hotmail.com on the 3rd June when the new one is deleted for good? I've looked for p***********7@hotmail.com but can't find it in Chrome.  This isn't a surprise as I've never used it on any PC or phone I currently use.   TBH I can't ever remember using it.

So you confident that were using w**h@hotmial.com to login to the original account before?

I tried searching and it gave me this when I searched for your email w**h@hotmial.com

Send code via email
w**h@hotmail.com
Send code via SMS
+**********90

and this when I searched for your number

Send code via email
w***@*******
Send code via SMS
+ ***-***-**** 90

This could still be the new account that youve deleted since its using the email and the number. Its strange why your original account with the picture says send p***********7@hotmail.com and also shows up when you search using your work email?

I can't tell if a code has come through to the phone - it seems that Messenger isn't working either.  i assume tat's because it would have been affiliated to the new facebook account??  Regarding w***@*******, I have no idea what this is.  I assume you've never come across anything as crazy as this before!

Posted
Abe Pastor

w***@******* is  w**h@hotmial.com facebook does not show the entire email when trying to recover using the phone number.

Ive done some research and there have been a lot of cases where people created 2 accounts using the same email and phone number.

Do you know any of your friends/Facebook friends that can still see your original account from their friends list? If they can, can you ask them the URL of your original account?

The URL is the link to the facebook profile when viewing a persons Facebook page i.e. www.facebook.com/john.smith

If someone you know who is your facebook friend can still see your original account from their friends list, ask them to view your Facebook profile and get the URL for that account. Give it to me once you already have it. Thanks.

I asked my wife to do it but she couldn't find my account unfortunately. I can ask another friend but it would have to wait until tomorrow as it's nearly one in the morning in the UK. I guess one of the problems is that the new account also has the same username, although I appreacite Facebook searches for the email address.  Is it okay if I get back tomorrow?  Many thanks for your efforts, I do very much apprecaite it.

Hi Abe.  No joy I'm afraid.  I asked a few friends to check if they could see my prifile on their accounts and none of them could.  Thats both the original and the new account.  I'm assuming they can't see the new one as I've delted it (full deletion 3rd June) and the original because it shares the username/mobile/email with the new one.  As a thought, do you think they might be able to see the original account after the 3rd June when the new one is deleted for good?

Hi Paul,

There is a possibility that you can recover the old account after the new one has been deleted for good. I am also thinking this is the best option if you accidentally created a new account under the same email. Just login in to the newly created account and delete it. Its possible that Facebook cannot find the old account because of a conflict with the new account if they have the same email.

However, we need to go through the process of recovering the old account again once the new one has been permanently removed from FB in the 3rd of June 2021.

You can try these steps once the old account has been removed permanently:

Try recovering your Facebook account

  1. Go to facebook.com/login/identify and follow the instructions. Make sure to use a computer or mobile phone that you have previously used to log into your old Facebook account.
  2. Search for the account you want to recover by using w**h@hotmial.com. You can search for your account by  email address, or phone number.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to reset the password for your account once you finally find the old account after searching.

Another option is you can do this from your ifes account. There is also a big chance that other people could now see the old account after the new account has been permanently removed. If this is the case, you can also try the steps below:

Recover your Facebook account from a friend's or family member’s account

  1. From a computer, go to the profile of the account you'd like to recover. You can search for your name from their friends list or you could also try the email.
  2. Click  below the cover photo.
  3. Select Find support or report profile.
  4. Choose Something Else, then click Next.
  5. Click Recover this account and follow the steps.

If your password isn't working or you don't remember your password

Try changing or resetting your password.

Change Your Password

To change your password on Facebook if you're already logged in:

  1. Click  in the top right of Facebook.
  2. Select Settings & Privacy, then click Settings.
  3. Click Security and Login.
  4. Click Edit next to Change password.
  5. Enter your current password and new password.
  6. Click Save Changes.

If you're logged in but have forgotten your password, follow the steps under Change Your Password then click Forgot your password? and follow the steps to reset it. Keep in mind that you'll need access to the email associated with your account.

Reset Your Password

To reset your password if you're not logged in to Facebook:

  1. Type the email, mobile phone number, full name or username associated with your account, then click Search.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.

All we need to do now is wait for the ne account to be permanently delete in the 3rd of June. You can start following the steps above on the 4th just to be sure. You can just go back to this page and follow the steps that I have provided above to guide you.

I hope I was able to help you with your Facebook problem. Let me know if you need further assistance or have additional question.

I'll try that all on the 4th June. Its a shame we couldn't sort it but I've certainly learned to be far more careful regarding my account. Many thanks for all your assistance and very best wishes for the future. Kindest regards Paul.
