Since this happens on two different services (Facetime and iCloud), I think there is an issue with the User Name/Email Address you are putting in. If that won't accept any log in that you can think of, you will have to call Apple support with this matter to know your correct log in details or probably reset your password.

I will try again today and if I still have issues I will contact apple. What is apples contact number.

It's also strange that I am able to use the same login and password to download apps to my iphone 4 with no problems at all so I am really confused right now. I haven't tried to update my phone iOS 5 or I cloud yet because I don't want to have issues with that as well. Have you got any more thoughts on this.

I just read this article about Apple Not Offering Apple ID Merging. This seems to be related to the problem that your having and seems like you will have to create a different user ID for your Facetime and iCloud.
