First, may need to do additional research and troubleshooting to determine and isolate the problem. I will also list the most common part(s) or condition(s) which contribute to the symptom if troubleshooting does not work.

If the ice maker is overflowing the water pressure to the water inlet valve might be too low. The water inlet valve requires a minimum of 20 psi to shut off properly. If the pressure is lower, the valve may not close fully when the power is shut off. This results in the valve leaking water into the ice maker and causing it to overflow. I'll provide more information on my next post on troubleshooting and affected components. Thank you.

This problem is not about the icemaker.

Water Is Dripping / Leaking From The Dispenser

Your water dispenser may drip water under the following conditions:

• You have just replaced the water filter or your refrigerator is new and there is air trapped in the system.
• Your refrigerator has some ice buildup or ice residue in the ice chute.

To stop water dripping or leaking from the dispenser, follow these steps:

  1. Bleed the air from the system by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water through the water dispenser. This will remove any air trapped in the system and stop the water dispenser from leaking.

Important: If your water dispenser is leaking just a few drops of water
after you have dispensed some water, this is normal.

  2. Verify that there is no ice in the ice chute which goes through the door. When you dispense ice, especially crushed ice, the refrigerator may experience residual ice sitting in the ice chute. When the residual ice melts, it appears as a leak from the water dispenser. To avoid this, keep the ice chute clean of residual ice or use cubed ice if possible.

  3. If the dispenser is still leaking after you have bled the system and the ice chute is clean, your refrigerator requires some parts to be checked or replaced.

Water Is Leaking And Pooling Underneath The Vegetable/Crisper Drawers

If water is pooling underneath the vegeatble/crisper drawers, clean the water and re-check a 2 - 3 hours later. The water may be a spill that went unnoticed.

If the refrigerator is leaking water it's possible that the refrigerator has a clogged or freezing defrost drain. If the defrost drain freezes the defrost water will overflow the drain and drip down to the bottom of the compartment, If enough water accumulates in the bottom it can run out onto the floor. Thaw any ice that is clogging the drain. Make sure the drain is clear by flushing it with a turkey baster and HOT water.

Note: Liquids will freeze when on the bottom of the refrigerator and/or near the air vents. The air blowing out of the vents is much colder than the set temperature to allow the large capacity compartment to reach the set temperature. The bottom back corners of the refrigerator are the coldest sections of the compartment, often below 32°F.

If you verify that this is not a spill, and water continues to pool under the drawers, We need to check the components responsible for this issue.

Please follow the steps I've provided earlier, and please respond to me by using the blue 'Reply' button right below this message.

The most common part(s) or condition(s) which contribute to the symptom Refrigerator leaking water are listed below. Check or test each item to determine if the component may need replacing.

1. Water Filter

If your water filter is leaking, it may be installed incorrectly. To check for and fix an incorrectly installed water filter, follow these steps:

  1. Shut off the refrigerator water line at the point where the line attaches to the house water source.
  2. Your water filter can be in one of two places, in the upper right side of your refrigerator or behind the vegetable bin.

    • If it is in the upper right side of your refrigerator, remove the upper glass shelf from the refrigerator so you can get to the filter easily.

    • If it is behind the vegetable bin, remove the vegetable bin.

  3. Examine the water filter to see if the LOCK indicator mark on the filter is aligned with the indicator mark on the filter cover.
Note: The LOCK indicator mark looks like a closed padlock.

  4. If the LOCK indicator mark on the filter is not aligned with the indicator mark on the filter cover, turn the filter clockwise until the marks are aligned.

  5. Turn on the water line. Check for leaks.

  6. If there are no leaks, put the shelf or vegetable bin back into the refrigerator.
  7. If there is still a leak, You may need to replace the component.

2. Clogged or Freezing Defrost Drain

Cause: If the defrost drain freezes the defrost water will overflow the drain and drip down to the bottom of the compartment, If enough water accumulates in the bottom it can run out onto the floor.

Solution: Thaw any ice that is clogging the drain. Make sure the drain is clear by flushing it with a turkey baster and HOT water.

3. Water Inlet Valve Components

alt textalt text

If the refrigerator is leaking water the water valve may be cracked or have a loose fitting. The water inlet valve requires a minimum of 20 psi to shut off properly. If the water inlet valve does not shut off properly and the water pressure is good, replace the water inlet valve.

Please follow the steps I've provided above, and please respond to me by using the blue 'Reply' button right below this message. Please indicate which part needs replacement so I can check it out for you. Thank you.

none of the examples are relevant to my problem as stated: first, this refrig does not have a water dispenser or ice dispenser in the door. Second, the water is dripping into, not underneath, the left crisper drawer. Which of the solutions you provided meets this specific problem of water* IN the drawer. No water is leaking onto the floor. I must admit the icemaker in the freezer does create less than even shaped ice, if that could be helpful. But please try to find something specific to the water in the left crisper. Thank you.

Thank you for waiting and so sorry for the delay. I have already gathered some information on what is the cause why water has been collecting in the left crisper drawer with research and also getting some exploded views of the unit as a guide. The only source of water on this portion is the drain behind the rear inside fresh food wall. That drain must be clogged. resulting to filling up the crisper.

  1. Unplug the refrigerator.
  2. Remove everything out of the refrigerator to get access to the rear wall.
  3. You should see a set of coils.
  4. Below that is the drain catch for the moisture that comes from those coils.
  5. Use something to get the ice out of the tray and use something like a baster to blow water or air down that drain to clear it.

That should stop the water from filling the left crisper. If it does not let me know.

Please use the diagram below as a guide

Refrig Assembly

  • 2 Should be the Tray Assembly
  • 9 should be the Vegtable Bin

Here is another detailed explanation and solution that I have prepared for you:

SYMPTOM:

Water gathering in the crisper drawers is dropping off of the panel that covers the cooling coils serving the refrigerator (top) compartment and indicates that the drain behind the panel is clogged with ice.

SOLUTION:

Unplug the unit and empty the top compartment, including the shelves and accessories (you do not have to empty the freezer if you perform this repair in an hour or two).

Part 10 (see diagram) is an assembled panel covering the back wall inside the refrigerator compartment where there are two bottom screws and one central screw (located under a cover tab). The panel (part 10) on model RF217ACPN is mostly held in by side clips that capture the panel in the opening. Removal of the panel allows access to the coils.

  • Once the screws are out, the panel can be removed by pushing in on the sides with your hands (start at the bottom, one side at a time) to unclip the panel from the opening. There is a Styrofoam layer attached to the back of the panel, and ice build-up can make the Styrofoam adhere to the coils behind. Use a hair dryer to warm up the area for several minutes, gently trying to free the panel and deliver warm air behind the panel as it comes free.

  • It is important to watch the heat from the hair dryer does not deform any of the plastic parts. _ _

Once free, the panel has two electrical connections at the upper left corner that should be disconnected. Set the panel aside and proceed to warm up the refrigerator with a hair dryer or other blowing air heater.__

You will see the cooling coils in the enclosure and below you will see a "V" shaped collector for the water. This will be filled with ice. Use hot water or air to melt the ice in the collector as well as in the drain line that is at the center, again being careful not to deform plastic parts. This will take 30-60 min depending on the amount of ice.

You know you are finished when water you pour into the pan drains rapidly out of the collector.
