Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. My name is Mario and I am here to help you resolve your issues. Since your Android OS doesn't support syncing with Yahoo, you would have to create a Google account and sync it with Yahoo Calendar. Then we could sync your Google account with your phone. Have you created a Google account?
I will give you the instructions in the next comment.
Thank you,
Mario
Thanks, I alrady have a Google account, but I'd like for both calendars to be separated as I've shared the Yahoo Calendar with a group of friends and my Google account with another separate group of friends.
In that case I would recommend creating another Google account because your Yahoo and Google calendars would be two-way synchronized therefore not separated.
When you have created a new Google account, plese follow these instructions to sync a Yahoo calendar with your phone:
Sync your Yahoo! Calendar & Google Calendar
Go to a Google Calendar.
Convert your Yahoo Calendar to Yahoo Calendar Beta. You can do this at http://switch.calendar.yahoo.com/
In Google Calendar click on "settings" under "My Calendar" to the left. In the box that opens click on the name of your google calendar, (it looks like a hyperlink).
Under "Private Address" Click on the green ICAL box and copy the web address that pops up.
Open Yahoo Calendar, and click the "+" next to "calendars" on the left side. Choose subscribe to calendar.
Paste the web address you copied from google into the URL field. Then click next and follow the directions. This will sync google to yahoo (one way).
To sync the yahoo calendar to google (other way), click on share calendar at upper right screen. Fill out the email address, choose the settings and click "save".
Go to the email and copy the URL specified as ical.
Go to google calendar and click "add by URL" under "other calendars" to the left.
Paste the yahoo calendar URL you copied from the email into the field and click "add calendar".
Now both google calendar and yahoo calendar are sync'd with each other.
Sync your Samsung Galaxy Calendar & Google Calendar
On your phone, go to a Menu > Settings > Accounts & sync.
Tap "Add account" > Google > Follow the instructions to add a Google account. When done, tap the email address of a Google account you've just added and make sure "Sync Calendar" is enabled.
Return to "Accounts & sync settings" and make sure "Background data" and "Auto-sync" is enabled.
Tap u**e@gmail.com, check "Sync Calendar".
Now both google calendar and Galaxy Calendar are sync'd with each other.
Please let me know if this helps.
Thank you,
Mario V.
So there's no way to make android 4 have a function that was present in android 2?
Dear customer,
There is a way to sync but you would have to use Yahoo Mail application and it isn't capable of two-way synchronization.
Here is how to set-up syncing for Yahoo! Contacts on an Android device using Yahoo! Mail:
Note: Yahoo! Contacts only sync one way, from your Yahoo! Account to your Android device. Contacts you enter on your Android device will not sync to your Yahoo! Account. Additionally, Yahoo! Contacts cannot be edited in your Android device's default contacts app. To edit your Yahoo! Contacts on your Android, please visit the mobile version of Yahoo! Contacts here.
Please tell me if you find this useful or have any other questions.
Thank you,
Mario V.
I guess I've not much choice here.
However, please update me should you be able to get the source that was in Android 2 that can perform the 2-way sync with Yahoo Calendar, Contacts and Mail that is able to be ported over into Android 4.0.4. Thanks.
Thanks for your time.
Thank you for accepting an answer. I have researched your issue and found two applications for Android. The first is SmoothSync for Yahoo!® Calendar. The description states it offers a two-way sync of Yahoo Calendar. YContact offers one-way sync of Yahoo Contacts. However, on their site it is said two-sync support is on it's way so you might be interested in this one.
Hope this was helpful to you. Thanks for allowing us to help you and don't hesitate to contact us again.
Best regards,
Mario V.
