HI,

Thanks for waiting. Please turn off the printer, then unplug it from the wall outlet for 2-3 minutes to drain the power. Plug it back in then turn it back on. Check if the issue is fixed.

There is a noise like a machine gun for about a minute and then that stops and screen says Scanner Locked and alternates this with Ready to copy.

Thanks for waiting. Here are the steps on how you can fix your the Scanner Locked error.

  1. Check if the CIS (Contact Image Sensor) unit is moving when power on.
  2. Check if the at cable is connected to the CIS unit properly. Re-connect or replace the cable.
  3. If the CIS is defective, replace it.
  4. Check if there is any defective part in the scanner unit. (Gear, Belt, Motor etc.)
  5. If the problem persists, replace the main board.
