2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor timing belt replacement, right camshaft sprocket jumped off tie down. Backed crankshaft 4 teeth off counter clockwise TDC. Rotated camshaft sprocket clockwise around 360 degrees to TDC. Could valves have bent ? Is there any tip for torqueing pulley tensioner?

Did you experienced overheating problems before replacing the timing belt?

Hey Relly , sorry I missed you. The water pump bearing made noise, shut it down and antifreeze ran out. It blew backing out the warehouse. When I was doing the belt Ipulled the sprocket out of it's wire ties and it jumped foward about 12 teeth I thought it might have bent a valve ,that's when I backed off the crankshaft 4 teeth and turned the cam sprocket clockwise 360 degree,s. to TDC. What do you think?

Hello Kevin

Good to catch you again. Try to set the sprockets again on their correct timing marks patiently and if the belt is new be sure that it has the same teeth as the old one. Setting the sprockets is pretty tricky and sometimes you need a help to hold the cams for it not to turn on the process. If it doesn't sit still after numerous times then you may have bent the valve during the early process. Try to get some help to hold the cams first to set the timing before replacing the valve.

Please let me know if it there's anything else I can add Kevin, I'm gonna ask you to do something. I'll be waiting for your response. Thank you

Thank you Relly , I've put the belt on , I was waiting for the tensioner tool for the pulley to finish the job, torqueing the pulley without the belt jumping looks like fun.I've zip tied the belt on. I'll finish up and hope for the best. Thank's Relly.
