I have a Mitsubishi PW 23 pallet jack that quit on me. We received a quote for new batteries at $3200, we bought the jack two years ago and have spent too much money repairing the jack for the same reason. The jack has about 500 hours on it. When I turn the key on the jack makes a click sound and the red "STOP" icon comes on. I took our (yes we have two of them) other PW23 pallet jack and used the battery pack to power up the bad jack and the out come was the same a click sound and the red "STOP" icon lite up. I don't trust our local Mitsubishi repair people so I need you to help me get my PW23 back up and running.

Hi

Relly

Like I explained I have two PW 23 Mitsubishi pallet jack that cost more in repairs then we paid to buy them. I have no trust in the local repair people in our town. I am at home right now in northren Canada (yes it is snowing here) but summer is comming, some day.

Hello Daniel... yes sun will shine some day. Can you please give me a bit to review the issue. I don't think that it's the battery and purchasing a new one won't resolve the issue.

Hi Daniel... as I was studying the schematics there are two things that can cause the issue. One, a faulty / burnt wiring that needs to be checked and replace if necessary. Second is a failing drive motor that's why it will not start.

Posted
Customer

The first thing would be for me to check all wiring, I have taken off many of the main lead wires and cleaned the contacts points and replaced them. and the second item would be for me to check the motor and what would be the best way for me to do that.

You have two identical jacks right Daniel? Try pulling out the drive motor from the working jack and interchange it to the failing one. Let's see the result

Customer

The problem here would be if any thing goes wrong with the second pallet jack I will be up the creek without a pallet jack and that will not be good for me . Can I remove the motor and check the brushes or anything else you can think of. I will go to work in the morning 05:00 hours and will check the wires and the motor.

It's fully understandable Daniel... you may want to check if the brushes are all good. But remember Daniel, since you have an identical lift it's easier to troubleshoot because you can interchange the parts. You will just have to mark everything and taking a picture of connections will be helpful.

O,K, I will try the interchange and get back to you tomorrow at about the same time it is 20:21 here now. Thank you. Daniel

Hi

I checked the hydraulic oil pump motor and the drive motor and they seem fine and have no shorts. I do have an error code on the little console screen shown E 1504 does this help?

Relly

I could not switch out any thing from the other good pallet jack because the warehouse was working today and they needed the one pallet jack all day.

FYI

Hello Daniel

I just found the error 1504 (Protection against high battery temperature / Overheating protection). It can be the convertor or control board that controls the voltage. You may want to interchange anything that controls the current from the working pallet if it's not in use Daniel

Relly

Is there a way to reset or eliminate this errror code or is this code active because some part of the electronics is messing up still. I can't risk losing the other pallet jack trying to get the dead one up and running. What say you?

Hello Daniel

Glad to hear from you. There's no reset procedure on this and I wish there was. It surely is a hardware issue that needs to be looked at by a ceritified technician. If there's only a way to reset this to get rid of the problem it'll be better
