I own a 2014 Mitsubishi outlander. The other day the power steering assist failed and the dash warning indicated service required. I called the closest dealer who could not offer any advice other than the vehicle be towed to dealer(50Miles)After several attempts to talk to a technician for any helpful info, I gave up. I checked all fuses etc. and ten tried the vehicle again and the power steering functioned properly and has continued to do so.I am of the impression it is an electric power steering assist unit in this vehicle according to my manual.Any advice or info in this regard would be appreciated. Also I have never received any reacall info. but wondering if a recall for this problem has been issued. My VIN no.is:JA4JZ4AXOEZ603301....Bob Harvey

Hello Harvey

How are you doing? Usually this is caused by system failure on the power steering assist module shown below

Try removing the negative battery connector of the vehicle and let it sit for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle back to it's normal working state. If problem persist then the module must be replaced but it's a 2014 and it will not go bad that easy.

There's no recall on a failing power steering module Harvey. Hope this helps and please let me know if there's anything else I can add or help you with. I'll be standing by for your response.

Thank you

Relly...Thanks again. Hopefully it will not have to be changed but at least I can tell my dealer where to find it. My response from them was less than satisfactory...Harvey
