I have uploaded videos to YouTube from Final Cut Pro 10, and from quicktime which look great until then get loaded. Each time I upload a video, it plays with a black glitch, or 1 second black blip, before the video plays. I thought it was the WordPress site and the video plugin I was using (slider revolution), but alas to be an upload issue. I went into chrome://flag and enabled the hardware for accreted decoding, but this did not fix the problem. I am so frustrated. Can you help?

Youtube re-encodes material so as long as you are within the file size limits, the problem is probably at the youtube end.  My recommendation is to output from fcp with current settings and then bring this file into compressor and resize to 720.

A better workflow (with hopefully smoother playback) would be to export as a Quick Time Movie, current settings and bring the file into Compressor to encode h,264 file, using the Batch Template settings for YouTube. (I believe Youtube would also say change the setting from Download to Streaming and turn off Frame Reordering.) It also probably wouldn't hurt to bump up the data rate to 10K.

Hey Charles,

I was under the impression that Final Cut Pro X sends things in the right encoding h,264 is what I have chosen to YouTube. If I go to File, drop down Compressor, it tells me I need to purchase a compressor from Apple for Final Cut - 50 bucks. Your thoughts?

May I call you regarding this question?

I have tried using a 'free' compessor by downloading the movie to quicktime to my desktop, compressing then proceeding, but to no avail. I am not an expert but I have been self-educating and trying to troubleshoot this for quite some time. Ugh.

Are the videos on youtube after they are uploaded that are choppy?

Posted
Customer

Yes, they look great in FCP. When I upload them to YouTube a "glitch" or 1 second black out happens then they run smoothly.

May I have a sample video to see the glitching.  Another words, may I have a link to one of them?

Dear Sue, It was a pleasure helping you with your Youtube issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.

Issue identified: Customer's youtube video were choppy when uploaded to the internet when played after uploading.

Solution Implemented:  I called and remotely accessed customer's computer.  I checked the Fianl Cut pro software to see if there were issues.  No error's messages were found from the software.  I checked customer's internet speed to see if the speed was fast enough to play hd videos.  Just for extra testing, I played the video on my computer and there was no chop at all within the video.  Also, customer has someone working on her website to embed these videos on the website.  She called the website builder and found out that while using Safari, the videos are choppy, but with any other browser such as chrome, firefox, and internet explorer which i advised customer are the top three browsers in the world even for mac's.  The videos played great while using google chrome on customer's computer.  So the issue is that the video's dont play as well on Safari.  Customer stated she will use google chrome rather than safari to view videos from now on.  Problem solved.

If issue resurfaces:  In next 30 days, come back to this Question page and let me know. If you are unable to find your way back to this Question page, please contact our customer support either by email (s**t@experthelp.com) OR call us at ***-***-****
