If only the oven doesnt warm up the causes of the issue could be the heating element, the wires  that connects the element and the control board. We can identify the problem better if we know the model number of your Maytag appliance. Please provide me with the model number by replying to this message. Thank you.

Hello Hall,

The heat element actually heats and glows as seen below if its okay. To help determine if the heat element is defective you should first do a visual check. If the element is blistered or separated then it should be replaced. If the element appears to look normal, then turn the oven on to a bake function for a minute and then turn it off but be careful in checking element it'll get hot quick. Check the element for signs of heating and if it is still cold then it may be defective.

There are other parts that contributes to the problem but lets check the heat element first for signs of blisters. Just in case the bake element is okay let me know so we could move on to identify the next parts on this issue. Please provide me with the model number of the Maytag Gemini appliance so we could properly identify the parts for you. Please leave a message whenever you are available. I will be waiting for your response.

Hello Hall,

Thank you for providing the model number. If the Gas oven is not heating here are the top probable causes for Maytag Gas Ovens:

Igniter on lower part of oven:  The igniter is the most commonly defective part for an oven not heating. The igniter has two main functions. First, the igniter draws electrical current through the oven safety valve to open it. Second, the igniter gets hot enough to glow and ignite the gas in the oven burner. If the igniter gets weak, it will fail to open the safety valve correctly. If the valve does not open, the oven will not heat.

To determine if the igniter is defective, observe the igniter when the oven is on. If the igniter glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the gas flame, this indicates that the igniter is too weak to open the valve.

If the igniter is weak, replace it. If the igniter does not glow at all, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.

Burnt Wiring: Also check the wiring for burnt marks which may indicate the cause of the issue. The most important place to check is the wires that conect the Igniter to the Oven. This can be seen easily if its burnt or not.

Oven safety valve: The gas oven safety valve works with the oven igniter to provide gas to the burner. If the safety valve fails, the oven won’t heat. However, this is rarely the cause. Before replacing the safety valve, first test all of the more commonly defective oven components, particularly the igniter.

If all of the other heating components are working properly, use a multimeter to test the safety valve for continuity. If the safety valve does not have continuity, replace it.

Oven Control Board: The oven control board has relays that send voltage to the bake and broil circuits according to the user settings and sensor input. If the control board is defective, it may not send voltage to the heating components. However, this is rarely the case.

Before replacing the control board, first test all of the heating components. If you determine that all of the heating components are working properly, replace the oven control board. Since it’s not easy to test the oven control board, you will have to replace the control board if you suspect it is defective. But first check the board for signs of burning or shorted out components.

I hope the answer helps a lot in determining the issue. Once you have found the problem part you can get a replacement online through the link below:

Just provide them the model number of your Maytag Appliance then the part that needs to be replaced. Thanks.
