Hello Michelle I'm happy to assist you here.
My Maytag Maxima frontload washer in mid cycle stopped and started showing the codes E01 and F06. Then it took quite a while to unlock so I could get the wet clothes out. I think it made it through the rinse and drain because the clothes were not soapy but, they didn't spin. It just stopped and started showing the codes.
F06 E01 means that the main central control board (CCU) and the motor control board (MCU) of the washer are not communicating with one another properly. The motor control board (MMC) is located under the tub mounted to the floor of the washer. The CCU (central control board) is mounted under the top panel of the washer and is the part with about 100 wires going into it. With this error you'll need to dissassewmble the washer to get access to the parts that need to be repalced.
May I know how old is the washer?

4 to 5 years old.
Alright. I would recommend a service repair for this type of problem since It's a lot of work to get to the MCU board unfortunately. On this model the top panel, the control panel and then the entire front panel would all need to be removed in that order so that you had access to the board.
Also, The part itself is about $250-300 dollars, a service technician most of the time would charge you an additional $150 dollars to replace it, and there is only a one year warranty on electronics parts. Let me know if you'll go for service repair option for me to provide you the number to schedule a repoair or replace the 4 year old washer.
So I'm really sorry for bringing you the bad news but that's the only option for you to get it working again.
Thank you for your help. I will investigate my own repair options. Happy Easter!!!
