Hi Scott,

Thank you for waiting!

May I know what is the exact model of your Cybershot?

I'm not sure of the model number but does DSC-H70 seem right?

Thanks!

Yeah thats the model. DSC-H70

Nothing at all shows on the screen? Black screen?

Not even the Sony logo shows on it when you turn it on?

Customer

Yes, that is right.  No Logo, no nothing.

Customer

It is lite up; not black

Unfortunately. There are no setting or switch that may cause that scenario.

If all other feature is working ok, Camera shot / zoom action and flash.

also you are seeing backlight on the display.

This means it is either a defective LCD panel or disconnected display panel.

When did you purchase the camera?

Purchased May 19, 2011.  Guess that means that if there is a repair available I will have to pay for it?  Would I have to send it to the Sony factory, or what?

Since it is already out of warranty. It may be best to bring it to a local camera repair technician in your area.

Also, LCD is one of major parts. If you bring it to a local tech, How much would an LCD replacement cost for this model. Some old model have hard to find parts which may cost you close to the price of a new device.

OR

Some times the technician will just have to tighten the lcd connector inside.

Do you know a near camera tech?

Posted
Customer

You are right; it will probably cost more than a new one would cost.  I just bought a new Canon EOS Rebel.  I just thought I'd try to get this one to work.  I live in a rural area and there is not a camera tech near by.  I'll just have to junk this Sony.  Thank you anyway.
