i own a Ford Focus Zetec Climate automatic five door hatchback manufactured in 2006. Sometimes when I turn the key in the ignition the engine fails to start although the instrument panel lights illuminate in the normal way and the lights remain on. The engine makes no noise and the LED warning message box is cleared except for about eight dashes. Can you help me?

have you ever had the vehicle scan for codes? Is the check engine light on or has it been on recently?

Ok, when it does not start, do you hear a click from the engine compartment?

And what do you do to get it to start, cycle the key off and on a few times?

Good morning,

The answer to your first two questions is no and no.

To start the car, I just turned the key to the off position and waited a few minutes and then turned it on again and the engine started.

When the car fails to start, there is no noise from the engine compartment at all.
