On the bottom of my iPod Nano is apparently the place for docking. However, there is a white cover on the bottom. Am I supposed to remove that to be able to dock?

Sorry for the late response. I also need to know the exact model of your iHome for me to provide you the steps on how to connect your nano.
I also want to verify if the model of your nano is the same as the image below
yes the same model
Model isA1446
How about the model of your iHome dock for me to check if this model is compatible or if we need an adapter to connect the nano in to it.
Thanks
The docking port on your iHome is it bigger than the charging port of your iPod nano?
it's an iP18
The iP18 docking port is larger than the charging port of your iPod Nano is that correct? You don't need to remove the bottom cover but you need to use an adapter to connect the Nano to your iHome.
You need the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter
You can purchase one on the nearest Apple store on your area or purchase it from Apple Store online. This product cost $29.00
