Hey Abe,

I have some videos stored on my Dell laptop Latitude E7240 (Model # GQZ6TZ1) running Windows 10, and I am trying to stream them to a Samsung Smart TV DAO1 (Model Code UN50KU6300KXZA).  I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible,  You are my last resource.

Thank you for the response and sorry for the delay. Looking at the model numbers of your Computer and TV it should be possible to connect the Laptop to your TV through wireless and wired method. To connect your computer to the Smart TV, your computer needs to have the Smart View app compatible to Windows 10 for wireless connection or an output port that matches one of the input ports on your TV, such as VGA, DVI, or HDMI ports for the wired connection. Here are the steps to make streaming possible:

Connecting the Computer to a Television (Wireless)

NOTE: If you want to use this method but is having trouble setting it up on the computer, Please let me know. We offer remote support upgrade that allows us to setup apps and configure settings on your computer remotely. To proceed with the instructions, follow the steps below:

1. Make sure that the Laptop and TV is connected to the same Wireless Network.

2. Download the Samsung Smart App View for Windows 10 by clicking >> THIS LINK

3. A box asking you to Save SmartView.msi should pop up. Save the file to your computer.

4. Open/Launch the app on computer and TV and follow the on screen instructions to complete Smart View setup and registration function.

NOTE: Depending on the model year of the TV this should show up on the SmartView feature: 2011~2013 Samsung Smart TVs require you to select ‘Allow’ on the popup window, showing nearby devices to connect. 2014~2015 Samsung Smart TVs require you to input a 4-digit number displayed on screen.

5. Both TV and Computer should now be connected to each other.

Connecting the Computer to a Television (Wired)

NOTE: If you want to use this method but is having trouble setting it up on the computer, Please let me know. We offer remote support upgrade that allows us to setup apps and configure settings on your computer remotely. To proceed with the instructions, follow the steps below

NOTE: After you have the right cable, follow these steps to connect your computer to your TV:

VGA Cable

Image result for vga cable

HDMI Cable

Image result for hdmi cable

  1. Turn off your computer and position it within easy reach of your TV.
  2. Connect the appropriate video cable from your computer's output to your TV. Check the pictures above to know which cable are you using
  3. Turn on your TV and set it to the input that matches the output on your computer by selecting the SOURCE/INPUT on the remote. Select PC or HDMI depending ther type of cable and where the cable is connected. You can send me a message by replying for the complete instructions on how to do this. For laptop press Fn + F8 to configure the display profile.
  4. Turn on your Laptop. You should see Windows displayed on your TV. If the screen looks stretched, or part of the screen seems cut off, you probably need to adjust the screen resolution in Windows. If you cannot see Windows on your TV, please let me know.

I hope the steps will help you successfully connect and stream. Please let me know if the problem has been fixed or you still need furtyher assistance by replying to this message.  Thank you.

Abe,

The Samsung Smart View finds the Samsung smart TV, but when I try to stream the video, the downloading symbol apperas but nothing shows up on the TV.  I tried it for over an hour with no results.  The downloading symbol just keeps truning.

Hello Phil,

Thanks for replying. I'm thinking this could be a connection problem since trying to connect. Can you go back to the TV's Network settings and try changing in Network Settings your DNS server to 8.8.8.8

Then go ahead try streaming again. Changing the DNS should work. Please let me know. I'll be waiting for your response.

For some reason my TV 's remote is not letting me access the home page and thus network settings.  It works everything else (volume, Channels, etc.).  Any ideas?

Posted
Abe Pastor
Samsung Expert

Make sure you are using the TV's remote and not a universal remote or the remote from a cable box. If I am correct the remote for the unit should look like this:

If you are using the correct remote, turn off the TV and turn it on after a few seconds. On the remote press HOME and go to IP SETTINGS:

Check the DNS values in IP Settings. Chane the 0.0.0.0 to 8.8.8.8

Let me know if this works. Thanks.

I am using the TV's remote.  All of the functions work except the home.  I have tried turning it off several times and have checked the batteries and nothing.

Thanks can you aim the remote at the infrared sensor located at the bottom center of the TV:

Press the return and play/pause button at the same time for about 5 seconds

You should see pairing complete on the TV screen this confirms that the remote is successfully paired.

Check if you can access the home menu this time.

Posted
Customer

I followed the instructions and got the "Pairing Complete" notice, but it still doesn't work.  I also turned the TV off and on again without success.

Are there buttons on the TV that could let you access the settings? It looks like somethings wrong with the remote. When was the last time you used the home button on the remote?

Posted
Customer

I do not find any buttons on the TV.  There is a panel that requires some special toll to open, but I don't know if that is what you are looking for or not.  I used the home button on th TV last when I was trying to set up the PC streaming.

Posted

Are those new batteries in the remote? thats the only thing stopping us from accessing the network settings.

Posted
Customer

I checked the batteries and they are good.  I tried replacing them anyway and that didn't work.

I'm still looking for possible fixes on this home button issue on the remote but cant seem to find one. Are those new batteries?

Yes and they are good according to the battery checker.

Did you try unplugging the TV for 30 seconds when you turn it off? Lets try that just in case you havent.

Posted
Customer

Are you some kind of genius?  That worked.  I did, however go into network settings, open wireless settings, and all I got was wireless that tokk me to the wireless connection for the TV which was ok.

Posted
Customer

This Smart View acts quirky.  Should I try reinstalling it?

Thanks. Now under Settings there is Network and an Open Network Settings option. Under that should have IP Settings.  Go ahead check if you can stream this time after setting to 8.8.8.8

This should work this time. Please let me know.

Posted
Abe Pastor
Samsung Expert

Make sure its the DNS that you changed to 8.8.8.8 under IP Settings just in case you need to double check. I will be waiting for your response after you test the streaming.

Posted
Customer

When I go to Open Network Settings I do not find IP Settings.  It just shows "Wireless" and when I click on it, it says it is properly connected.

Posted
Abe Pastor

Thanks. Does the computer able to stream this time?

Posted
Abe Pastor
Samsung Expert

Or can you check under Network if theres a Network Status option?

Posted
Abe Pastor
Samsung Expert

If I am correct it should show under Network Status an option to select IP Settings.  Select IP Settings and a line that should say DNS Settings

Posted
Customer

Okay.  I put it under IP Settings and got an error message.  I will change it.

Posted
Abe Pastor

Try to leave IP settings to Get Automatically. Just change the DNS to 8.8.8.8.

Posted

I changes the IP Settings back to 0.0.0.0 and DNS to 8.8.8.8 and thried to stream, and it isn't working.  Smart View found the TV, the contents shows it is streaming, but nothing is coming on the TV.
