Have had a Q10 for several years. Had to reload it from a backup about a year ago; android apps stopped working, but they started working again a few weeks later.

A few weeks ago I reloaded an earlier backup to try to regain Facebook functionality that BB took away with a bogus upgrade. Big mistake! Android apps no longer work, and I'm not sure they'll start working again if I just wait.

Can you provide a solution?

Just perform a master reset to the way it was brand new.

  1. From the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings, and then tap Security and Privacy.
  3. Tap Security Wipe, then enter "BlackBerry" in the box provided and tap Delete Data.
  4. The device will now be reset back to factory settings.

Make sure you back up pictures or files on your computer before restoring to factory settings.

Did a master reset a few months ago, with at that time a fairly recent backup, and did a successful restore, but android apps still didn't work until when, a few weeks later, they just started working for no apparent reason.

I now have a current backup so I COULD reset, but... as I recall the total reset required a LOT of work to get things back to normal. So I have to pay $30 just to speak with you?  Seems that'd be easier for both of us.

When I reopened this page, I was bombarded with upgrade options: speak on the phone, have "expert" take over the device.

Now I wouldn't mind speaking to somebody on the phone, but the timing matters. IF (IFF) that could happen immediately, I might agree. But it does me NO good to pay 30 bucks for talk when I'm not available. Respond to me quickly and I might agree to pay the additional fee and the original charge. Otherwise you've done me no good and I'll dispute everything!

Ok then your apps should work afterwards if you don't do any updates

Customer

Not sure what "don't do any updates" means. Are we speaking the same language?

I'm just hoping for the best. My Q10 currently displays "Security Wipe". Not sure what will follow.

Ok, it's coming up, "Activating your device with the mobile network", but not sure how it's going to do that unless I give it the info to do so...

Customer

It's now offering a Software Update to 10.3.2.2530 (41MB).

You cautioned me about "updates". Should I do this?

OK, so I'm supposed to do nothing? Please advise.

See if your phone apps work now

Customer

Sorry, but what phone apps am I supposed to check? I see no way to get to that point without doing more without clicking Continue, which promises to "complete the setup". We need to talk, and I don't expect to pay more for it, since you haven't helped me do anything I couldn't have done by myself. The setup isn't complete, and if you don't call me at ***-***-**** I will contest any and all charges against my account.

Dear Arthur, It was a pleasure helping you with your Blackberry issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.
Issue identified: Customer apps was not working on phone

Solution Implemented: I called customer and customer reset phone to factory settings.  The blackberry support for this model of phone ois getting out of date so I advised customer that some apps may work and may need to upgrade to a newer phone.  Customer stated he will keep the phone he's got and just try to use the FAcebook app on his phone.

If issue resurfaces: Please follow the same steps again if the issue resurfaces. Also you can contact support by email at s**t@experthelp.com or by phone at ***-***-****
