I am connected by airport with the wifi service of a hotel, on both PC and MacBook Air. No problems with PC, and no problem with MacBook yesterday, but today there was a new twist. Unlike yesterday, while invoking the Airport, I was prompted to provide password to the computer and a computer name. I had no idea what the computer name was. Next to the box the prompt gave examples, and I selected MyComputer or something similar. The I proceeded to try to get onto Safari. Airport shows that the wifi is connected, but a box comes up in the middle of the page when I try to get online with the message: Safari Can't Open the Page Safari Can't Open the Page "https://www.google.com/search?client=safari....[more gobbledygook]...PWJI" because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "www.google.comm". So how can I get online?

OK I turned the computer off for 4 min., then turned it back on an the same page appeared. Then I turned the wifi off at Airport and then turned it on again with the same results. Maybe I should now turn the wifi off for 3 min while the computer is still on?

How strong is the wifi signal?

Posted
Customer

It's very strong. The new issue seems to be secure connection. I'm going to have to leave in a few minutes and be away for 4 hours. What's the best way to continue this consultation?

Do you have anti virus? If you have disable the website shield and then reboot safari.

And also make sure the time on your mac is correct. Sometimes if the time is not sync with the correct time this is happening.

Posted
Customer

I managed to get to Google through Yahoo. Strange. I'll try correcting the time, since I changed time zones, but that was not a problem yesterday.

Can you try it please and also if you have anti virus disable the web shield.

I finally fixed time (not easy), but since I got on through Yahoo I wonder whether I should try going straight to Google now. What do you think?
