I have a 2001 volvo s40 that I changed the exhaust valves on. It runs fine but it has one code that says exhaust cam B over retarded. I used the tool that locks the cams in place when I removed the head to change the exhaust valves, but even with the tool the cams can turn a little. I would like to rotate the exhaust cam, or the intake cam a little to clear the code. However, I don't know which way to rotate the exhaust or intake cam. The camshaft pulleys face the passenger side of the car. Which way do I need to rotate the exhaust cam, clockwise or counterclockwise? I already changed the CVVT solenoid so that is not the problem. The problem is the position of the exhaust cam is off just a little.
