2008 Volvo C70 T5 convertible. Had roof half way open about 2 hours to do headliner repair. Upon trying to reclose the roof, the electronics would not activate, showing error message and take to dealer. The trunk lid had slowly sagged forward several inches due to hydraulic softness during my repair, but even with the trunk lid back to vertical position, it wont activate.

Hello Denito

How are you doing? Can you access the car at the moment? As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the negative battery connector and let it sit for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. Try to operate the top again and see how it goes. Sometimes the reset resolve the issue. I'll be standing by for your response. Thank you.

I'm at work now. I can try disconnecting the battery when I am home on lunch break at 1pm Dallas TX time. I didn't see any fuses blown looking things over yesterday, and want to know what would be the next step if the battery reset dosen't work?

Thanks for your response Denito. There are few things to look at in here and is the roof motor. Please observe if it makes a motion sound during the activation. If it does then it can be good but it doesn't mean that it's not the fault. The motor may not be operating normally that's why it stops at some point. Another thing to look at is the limit switch, it's what makes the roof motor stop when the roof reaches it's limit of operation. If the limit switch is faulty, the roof may not go up or down properly because it can be sensing that it has reached the motor's limit even if it's not. In this case the limit switch must be replaced.

Below is what the limit switch looks like.

The limit switch will cost atleast $120 but it can be cheaper on the yard near you. Hopefully the reset works so you can cut the expense. Hope this helps Denito. Is there anything else I can add or help you with?

No motor activation, it seems the computer is at fault or the limit switch as you show. It worked fine till I left the roof in the half open position for 2 hours in the sun! Where is the limit switch located?car now

I don't have the one from 2008s but heres a pic of the 2000s. It's pretty much have the same location.

I strongly suggest that you take it to a reputable shop with a volvo scanner to determine which of the limit/micro switches is failing to avoid throwing parts Denito.
