I am trying to start up my HP windows 10 and all I am getting is a black screen with the HP logo and at the bottom it says “starting automatic repair” and then it goes to a blank screen but the power is still on. How can I fix this?

I got a blue screen error yesterday as well but I had to go to work so I didn’t have time to troubleshoot. I tried to start it up today and all I am getting is what I described in the first message.

Yes it is windows 10. It is a HP Pavilion. Model 14-bf040wm

Can you try this three times,

when the loading shows up.

Hold the power button down to shut down the computer.

Do it three times and on the 4th time you turn it on let me know if you get a troubleshooting options.

Reset this PC, which lets you choose to keep or remove personal files, and then reinstalls windows.

Recovery Manager, HP backup and recovery or contact HP support.

Call customer

All recovery and restore options are not working and are grayed out.

Advised ccustomer that we will need to perform an reset using a SB flash drive

Customer will call back tomorrow once he have a computer that can be used to make a Windows installation drive.

Left my number and will wait for customer's update.

Customer already have a Windows 10 installation disk

Advised customer to run it on the computer with problem to initiate the installation.

Will call customer around 12MN EST

Expert Notes:

Call customer Ran the installation of the USB drive - HDD not being opened but is detected in BIOS

One more restart and the computer showed a SMART error - Advised the HDD had to be replaced

HDD was the main cause of all the problem.

customer asked for 1 week for the HDD replacement.

Will call customer after a week.
