• If your dryer does not automatically power off at the end of a cycle. This is normal. The machine will play a tune indicating that the drying cycle is done. Once it stops END will be displayed until you open the door. But the machine will not power down until the power button is pressed.

Thank you for the additional information. If the dryer won't stop, check the venting as one of the basic troubleshooting on units having this issue. A clogged or partially clogged vent will reduce the air flow through the dryer and greatly increase the drying time.

This is the most common problem when a dryer is slow or it doesn't stop when the vent is clogged. If the dryer is slow, check the vent from the back of the dryer to the outside of the house. If that is clogged, clear it completely and test the dryer. If the dryer is still showing the same symptoms after the vent is cleaned, clean the internal duct work of the dryer. This will require some dis-assembly.

NOTE: Please make sure to unplug the dryer if opening to avoid injuries.

1. Heating element

The heating element warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the dryer won't stop, it may be because the heating element isn't working - which greatly increases the drying time. Check the heating element for continuity.

2. Heating element assembly

The heating element assembly warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the dryer won't stop, it may be because the heating element assembly isn't working - which greatly increases the drying time. Check the heating element for continuity.

3. Lint Filter

Dryer sheets and fabric softener can leave a residue on the lint filter, reducing the air flow. If the dryer won't stop, check to be sure air can flow freely, clean the filter as needed.

4. High Limit Thermostats

If the dryer won't stop, check the high limit thermostat. If defective, the high limit thermostat can turn off the heat prematurely, lengthening the time it takes to dry a full load. Although this is not common, please check just in case.

5. Thermistor

The thermistor senses the temperature of the air in the dryer and cycles the heat on and off. If the dryer won't stop, the thermistor may be defective. This is also not common but also check just in case.
